The short answer is context-dependent. Option 1 costs you the savings plus installation. Option 2 costs you quality of life or battery longevity.

For Cochise County off-grid systems, A-grade is usually the smarter buy. The marginal cost difference is small relative to the total system, and the reliability gain is real.

When B-Grade Actually Makes Sense

That said, B-grade isn't always wrong. Here are scenarios where it can work:
